FESTIVE OPENING FOR PILOTAGE SERVICE NETWORK!
This new energy-generating operating base for pilots and staff of the Pilotage Service is located somewhere very special. The design on a lock island in IJmuiden responds to the fantastic view towards the sea, the steel of Tata and the rusting of ships. Built on a plinth of old ballast stones from sailing ships, all materials are particularly low-maintenance. And this really is very necessary, because almost no place in the Netherlands faces rougher conditions. A quote from the client’s speech: ‘With its architecture, the building matches this site and us perfectly. It is simultaneously robust and friendly, just like the men of the Pilotage Service.’
