13/11/2017 - The re-used extended-family church in Alphen a/d Rijn was on display in the Dutch television show BinnensteBuiten last week. The previously discarded church has been transformed into two dazzling dwelling to make room for the particular housing desire of the family van der Laan – Kampstra.

Over the course of the past two years, the church has been split horizontally into two apartments: the ground floor apartment for the parents, the upstairs apartment for the children and grandchildren. The facades have been restored rigorously, shared spaces for both families have been introduced, and a beautiful large garden tops off the design. The extended-family home provides an easy connection between the families, while also respecting their privacy. Now the grandchildren can easily visit their grandparents, while the grandparents be looked after, if needed, in the future.
