GREEN LIGHT FOR RED BRICKS IN BEVERWIJK
10/01/2018 — Construction on the project Plantage 4 and 5 in Beverwijk will officialy commence in 2018. Though Design & Build 101 rental dwellings will be developed and constructed together with Smit’s Bouwbedrijf and client Pré Wonen.
Plantage 4 and 5 is part of a larger restructuring of the neighbourhood Plantagebuurt in Beverwijk, and will be developed in different phases. Construction on the first phase will start in the second term of 2018. The total project encompasses 52 dwellings and 49 apartments. Cars will no longer have a dominant position within the public space through the new clear street pattern with parking pockets and small back streets. Terraced houses with special corner houses and an apartment building with special corners will make the neighbourhood special.
The design of the dwellings is an ode to the urbanist Pieter Verhagen, who was born in Beverwijk. Befitting his philosophy green living environments will be created through the use of green boundaries and new trees, whereas warm red bricks with beautiful accents in the masonry will deliver a rich and diverse façade image. At the same time, the design is for the future. The sloping roofs with dark tiles can be used to effortlessly integrate PV-panels in the future. The sustainable and low-maintenance materials, too, guarantee the future residents will be able to enjoy living on this location for a long time to come.
