FARMSTEAD DE HULST, OTERLEEK
FARO was asked by Warm Thuis and Bouwcompagnie to design assisted living groups for elderly with Alzheimer. On an existing farmstead, we designed three new barn-like structures in which the groups will be housed. The characteristic existing farmhouse and two existing barns will be integrated into the plan.
ANIMAL HOSPITAL THE HAGUE
On a location with a rich history, FARO designed the new home of the Animal Hospital The Hague. The result is a confortable main building with some barns; a perfectly fitting suite for both human and animals.
50-YEAR-OLD SUBURB TO LAST ANOTHER 100 YEARS, NIJMEGEN
The Hatert district is being renovated, with construction also taking place on the until now unbuilt Circusterrein. Two apartment buildings and a project with 36 family homes will be constructed. FARO is designing one apartment building and the family homes.
ON A PLOT IN APELDOORN
FARO produced a plan for care homes for 114 different people with different disabilities on a former farmstead that became available on Terwoldseweg in Apeldoorn. The plan is characterized by a farmhouse and various barns that together form the plot. To answer the program requirements we are designing a recognizable and green residential and living environment that is inspired by farmstead architecture from the past, while being strongly anchored in the present.
DUNES ENTICE RESIDENTS TO CARE AREA, NOORDWIJKERHOUT
‘Regular’ homes are also being realized in a community for people with a disability in Noordwijkerduin. Noordwijkerduin is an institute that is being opened up. Over a number of years, the arrival of regular citizens will radically change the look of Noordwijkerduin.

URBAN COURTYARDS AT DE HALLEN, KWINTIJN PHASE 1 AMSTERDAM
Contracted by Wijnen Projectontwikkeling, FARO has designed approximately 175 homes above a parking garage in the district; the homes will be developed over two levels and within three complexes. A significant proportion of the homes is being purchased by an investor, Altera Vastgoed NV, and a housing corporation, Alliantie.
The architectural theme for Nesselande subplan 6.5 is ‘the Garden City’. FARO translated this theme in a contemporary way. The 136 single-family homes and 4 homes for disabled people (the Orion Foundation) have been worked out in a clear block structure with a distinct difference between the inside and outside.
1920S ALSO OUTSIDE THE RINGROAD, AMSTERDAM
One of the first projects in reconstructing the district Bos en Lommer in Amsterdam is ‘Scala’. Scala is situated in the Kolenkit neighborhood on a strip of land of 230 by 30 meters next to the train tracks. Goal of the reconstruction is to improve the quality of living and to improve the spatial and architectural connection with the pre-war part of Bos en Lommer on the other side of the A10. FARO designed a very diverse program for the compact location.
