ENERGY NEUTRAL IN GEERPARK, VLIJMEN
Geerpark is a new neighborhood in Vlijmen. The city, the corporation, the province and the waterdistrict have formulated high sustainable ambitions to make Geerpark the most sustainable neighborhood in the Netherlands. The neighborhood will be all-electric and all homes will be energy neutral. The plan belongs to one of the 13 ‘excellent area’s’ designated by the ministry.
MENNONITE CHURCH IN THE WOODS, ELSPEET
Design a church according to the traditional Mennonite principles: a sustainable building, with the user in mind and a space for gathering and meeting. The first Mennonite churches were hidden and inconspicuous; simple places of congregation around the bible. The interiors were sober and as pure as possible. No distraction or ornaments in order to enhance concentration and togetherness. The new church on Mennorode refers to that time.
STEIGEREILAND 2.0 — SUSTAINABLE IN WOOD
In Amsterdam’s IJburg steigereiland, FARO has built an energy-neutral dwelling according to the standards of Cradle to Cradle. All materials are or compostable or recyclable. The House is also the first building in Netherlands with two passive-Build-quality marks, granted for both the design and the built result.
STEIGEREILAND 1.0 — ENERGY SUFFICIENT
On Steigereiland, in Amsterdam, Pieter Weijnen built his own experimental energy efficient wooden home. The house is painted a vibrant blue, referring to the traditional dike houses of nearby Durgerdam. Spaciousness is the keyword in this design.
