SMART HOUSE FOR ENEXIS

The Enexis house is a show case for mod­ern life with an energy net­work. A house that har­vests energy from sus­tain­able sources and gives energy back to the grid. The house is designed to be sus­tain­able with regards to energy and in choice of mate­ri­als, but also in edu­cat­ing the occu­pants and their inter­ac­tion with their imme­di­ate surroundings.

CASA CASCADE

The city of Almere orga­nized a design com­pe­ti­tion for urban vil­las and a res­i­den­tial tower for the Cas­cade park. The designs needed to fit within the ambi­tion to develop the Cas­cade park as a ‘win­dow of sus­tain­abil­ity’: an inspir­ing exam­ple for eco­log­i­cal, social and eco­nom­i­cal sus­tain­abil­ity. FARO designed the win­ning entry for a res­i­den­tial tower. The loca­tion of the tower is unique, as it, with at least 57 res­i­dences, will form the head (or tail) of the park.

Task­force CO2 is a foun­da­tion estab­lished by FARO Research, VGG Mid­delkoop, bureau Nie­man and Amory + Jur­riens, fol­low­ing an ini­tia­tive of Eve­lyn van der Ploeg. We are work­ing together on inter­dis­ci­pli­nary research into CO2 reduc­tion and pos­si­bil­i­ties of trans­form­ing the exist­ing social rental hous­ing stock.

Cra­dle to Cra­dle in the polder’

For a world her­itage site, the story is just as impor­tant as the phys­i­cal object itself; a good story for a mon­u­ment sud­denly makes a his­tory les­son tan­gi­ble and inspir­ing. The cra­dle leg­end brings an extra dimen­sion to the sus­tain­able cradle-​to-​cradle phi­los­o­phy. ‘Cra­dle to Cra­dle in the polder’ weaves all kinds of points of view together; with atten­tion for both mate­r­ial as well as imma­te­r­ial heritage.
