HEREN 5 AND FARO HAVE WON THE TENDER FOR SUSTAINABLE LIVING NEIGHBORHOOD IN LEEUWESTEYN
27/03/2018 — Leeuweplaats will be a fine and sustainable residential neighborhood with an Utrecht character close to the citycenter on the Amsterdam-Rijnkanaal. Municipality Utrecht has selected the Leeuweplaats team for the development of 95 homes on building site 6 in Leeuwesteyn (Leidsche Rijn).
The plan was realized in collaboration with Ooms Bouw & Ontwikkeling, Heren 5 architects, FARO architects, Strootman Landscape Architects, Merosch, Beumer Garantiemakelaars and VERO Visuals.
Opposite poles in spheres contribute to the Utrecht character that we pursue in Leeuweplaats. An urban outer edge with stately homes on the avenue and carefully designed ensembles on the green Oeverpark. And in the heart of the plan is the intimate Leeuweplaats with a succession of alleys and places, each with its own atmosphere created by different interpretations. The car is out of sight, but within reach in one of the two green parking courts. The urban design accents in the plan were performed with a nod to the Utrecht Art Deco.
Leeuweplaats is a rich plan. There is a wide variety of housing types suitable for people with large and small scholarships, for patchwork families, three-generation families and self-employed people who want to work at home. All houses have a front porch and there are houses with porch, awning and bay window, which optimally utilizes the orientation and location of the houses.
Living in Leeuweplaats is also comfortable and sustainable. The energy concept is based on the well-known trias energetics: this means extra well insulated walls, floors and roofs and triple-glazing is used everywhere. Heat is recovered by means of a CO2-controlled balanced ventilation system. And there is an individual heat pump for heating and hot tap water with a collective open-source system. In short, with an EPC of –0.3 and a GPR score averaging 8.9 a result to be proud of!
