FARO was asked by Trudo and Adriaans Project development to make a plan for a central courtyard in the Rijtse vennen development in Deurne. Deurne has set the goal for this development to be sustainable. This project can act as a pilot for sustainable residential developments on a larger scale. Our goal is to seek different ways of thinking about building, developing and living, and to create a sustainable investment for the built environment.

40 social housing residences and four owner occupied houses are planned around a courtyard. The porches in front of the houses form the transition between the individual residences and the collective space of the central courtyard. Special attention is given to reducing energy use and creating a pleasant living environment. The 44 houses have a communal roof that will also be used to generate energy. FARO aims to surpass the planned EPC of 6.0.
