SUSTAINABLE LIVING AROUND A COURTYARD, DEURNE
FARO was asked by Trudo and Adriaans Project development to make a plan for a central courtyard in the Rijtse vennen development in Deurne. Deurne has set the goal for this development to be sustainable. This project can act as a pilot for sustainable residential developments on a larger scale. Our goal is to seek different ways of thinking about building, developing and living, and to create a sustainable investment for the built environment.
PILOTS FOR SUSTAINABLE PILOTING, IJMUIDEN
Weather and wind, ships, strong quays, locks, bridges and steel industry smoke. This is the context for the Pilotage Service’s new pilot operating base. Inspired by this environment, a sustainable and energy-generating building has been constructed from sturdy, robust materials. Its location so close to Tatasteel was the inspiration for using corten steel, a determining feature that encircles the first floor of the building.
NATURE CAMP SITES FOR DUTCH FOREST SERVICE, SCHOONOORD
State forest management wants a recognizable appearance for all of its campsites that contributes to the identity of the organization. FARO has been asked to design the campsite buildings and sanitary units. The reception building is dominated by a large expressive roof that can accommodate a fire place, a check-in machine and a table.
FARMSTEAD DE HULST, OTERLEEK
FARO was asked by Warm Thuis and Bouwcompagnie to design assisted living groups for elderly with Alzheimer. On an existing farmstead, we designed three new barn-like structures in which the groups will be housed. The characteristic existing farmhouse and two existing barns will be integrated into the plan.
ALL VILLAGERS UNDER ONE SLATE ROOF, BADHOEVEDORP
A new social center for Badhoevedorp: the village hall is being rebuilt. FARO architects has further elaborated its winning competition design in consultation with users, managers and the Municipality into this definitive design that will be realized in 2015.
