THE FIFTH QUARTER, DEN HAAG
FARO has designed 138 dwellings in an urban block for the Fifth Quarter of the Wateringse Veld in The Hague. The materials used on the inside of the block, around a courtyard, alternates between wood and brick. Half the facades have light grey wooden facades and half have brick facades. A large number of the homes around the courtyard have porches in the front. In the middle of in the courtyard appears a tower with a tree on the roof, reminiscent of Siena.
The outside of the block consists of red nuanced, rough brick. Here are mostly single family homes, but there are also corner and patio dwellings. The plan has many choices: you can live high or low; on the courtyard or on the street; in an apartment or single-family dwelling.
