‘Buitengewoon Bajonet’ is in ‘Oude Westen’, a 19th-century area in Rotterdam. The district has been changing for decades. Everything looks very different following the 1980s and 1990s urban renewal. With this housing block, FARO is referring to the original architecture of the area: that of the 19th Century. This includes a more beautiful and richer detailing, increased differentiation in type and image, more beautiful materials, urban and lively.

Different types of bricks and varying white accents in the façades ensure that each home is individually recognizable, while natural stone cladding and partly white stucco features accentuate the façades in a contemporary way. The corners of the housing block are also differentiated by bay windows.

All homes have access from the street and have a garden on the roof of the car park. There are 8 different main types of home with many options for add-ons. Residents can also consult with the architect and contractor to determine the design themselves.
